Political Positions of New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship)
Aspiring to establish a federal democratic union that fully guarantees equality and self-determination for Mon people, and to resolve conflicts through political means, in 1995 the New Mon State Party (NMSP) signed a cease-fire agreement with the then military regime, and in 2018 signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), with the NLD government and military. However, we did not get any of the political results we hoped for our people.
The February 1 2021 military coup has blocked the path for political dialogue. The New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship) releases this statement, in order to work with all revolutionary organizations that share the same political vision of a federal democratic union that guarantees the rights to self-determination.
Political Vision
We envision the establishment of Mon State within a federal democratic union, which is composed of states (federal units) that guarantee national equality and the rights to self-determination of all peoples.

Objectives
1. To demolish all forms of dictatorship including the military dictatorship
2. To abolish the 2008 Constitution
3. To establish a federal democratic union based on the principles of national equality and self-determination
4. To build unity among Mon people and solidarity with different nationalities
5. To establish Mon State on the principles of national equality and self-determination for all people including the Mon
Positions
1. We do not accept any political dialogue based on the NCA.
2. We oppose any attempt to revive the 2008 Constitution.
3. The Myanmar military shall hold no right to participate in any future political discourse.
4. We reject any power arrangement and distribution among political only elites.
5. Cooperation with revolutionary organizations, including during the current revolutionary period, shall be carried out in accordance with federal principles and local needs.
6. We will participate in political discussions that include ethnic revolutionary organizations and forces that oppose the SAC and the coup, through all forms of resistance in the Spring Revolution.
7. We will engage constructively with the efforts of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations in seeking viable solutions for Myanmar.
8. Our commitment to peaceful coexistence with neighbor countries shall stand as a cornerstone for regional peace and stability.
Action Plans (Roadmap)
1. We will work with the Mon revolutionary organizations to put political and military pressure on the military junta.
2. We will work with the Ethnic Resistance Organizations and all Spring Revolution actors to put political and military pressure on the military junta.
3. Upon overturning the military junta and its administration, Interim Administration Plans for Mon State and for the Union shall be implemented.
4. We will develop a transitional federal constitution and a transitional State Constitution with inputs from all revolutionary forces. Transitional federal and state governments shall be formed through elections held in accordance with these constitutions.
5. During the transitional period, the State Constitution shall be drafted and promulgated through a process that involves all parties and entities that participate in the revolution against the military dictatorship in Mon State. The State Government shall be formed in accordance with the State Constitution.
6. During the transitional period, the Federal Democratic Constitution shall be drafted and promulgated through a process that involves all parties and entities that participate in the revolution against the military dictatorship. The Federal Government shall be formed in accordance with the Federal Democratic Constitution.
7. Transitional justice action plans shall be implemented to remedy the injustices inflicted upon innocent people throughout the conflict.
Conclusion
The New Mon State Party (Anti-military Dictatorship) will coordinate and collaborate with all revolutionary forces to implement our objectives, positions and action plans, to establish Mon State within a Federal Democratic Union that guarantees the right to self-determination and national equality.
